Free-compatible completion

  1. Create a Task Completion record with the Task, original Due date, Completed At date, result, and cadence snapshot.
  2. Set the Task's Completed Date.
  3. Move Next Due into Due and calculate the following Next Due.
  4. Clear Done, unless the recurrence has ended.
  5. Leave Auto Reset unchecked.

Paid-plan automation

Trigger when Done becomes checked and Recurring is checked while Recurrence State is Active. The automation should:

  1. Create a Task Completion record.
  2. Copy the completed occurrence's Due date and cadence.
  3. Set Completed Date.
  4. Promote Next Due into Due.
  5. Calculate the following Next Due according to Cadence and Repeat Every.
  6. Clear Done.
  7. If Recurrence End has passed, set Recurrence State to Ended instead of resetting.
  8. Notify the user when a required date or cadence is missing.

Database buttons and database automations are configured in the Notion interface; the current connector can build and verify their schema, forms, views, and documentation but cannot create those UI objects.
